In Antarctica: A Different Adventure, internationally acclaimed photographer Jason Kimberley takes the reader on an unforgettable journey to the very heart of the most inhospitable continent on Earth.

In 2005, Jason spent 16 days at 80 degrees south with travelling companions Jason Veale and Peter Hillary. Together, they traced the steps of the great explorers of the ‘Heroic Age’, man-hauling sledges across the windswept Horseshoe Valley on the edge of the Ellsworth Mountains.

This trio of gung-ho adventurers endured freezing temperatures from -15º to -45º, blinding ‘whiteout’ snowstorms, 60-knot winds, and 16 days without a shower, surviving for the most part on ‘katabatic hoosh’ as well as their ingenuity, courage and sheer wonder at the majestic landscape surrounding them.

They returned invigorated and armed with a renewed appreciation of the foibles of humankind and the responsibility we all have to ensure the preservation of our natural environment.

Fully illustrated with breathtaking photography throughout, Antarctica: A Different Adventure is an inspiring, down-to-earth and often hilarious tale of three modern-day explorers and their extraordinary journey.
