The Hunted
“Danger Island”, “Tourist
Dies”, “Lost Tourist”, “Trouble in Paradise”,”Drunk
Kills Brit”,“Danger in Kombi Country”, are just a sample
of the weekly headlines in the Australian and British Media.
Very few tourists meet their death in Australia each year, but when they do it is reported extensively. Foreign visitors dying in The Outback, taken by sharks or ambushed by crocodiles seem to be the most appealing means of death for the media and it’s consumers.
If one were to take media accounts of thte various tourist deaths in Australia as a true and fair indication fo the life in Australia, one could be forgiven for thinking that all tourists are hunted by dark, shadowy figures as they disembark at the arrival gates.
